Arab Patrol During an Imperial Parade

The Arab Patrol of El Zagal Temple was organized in the year 1893, just four years after El Zagal Temple received its charter.  The Arab patrol began as a unit of instructors who performed many of the initiation duties the 57 Directors Staff presently do today.  Noble Archie J. Craig, Sr., personal friend of Captain John Shuey, agreed to come to Fargo and help organize the Patrol in 1893.   John Shuey was Captain of Zurah Shrine Temple's Patrol Unit in Minneapolis.  Once the Arab Patrol was organized Noble Craig Sr. became the its first captain.  El Zagal's Arab Patrol was the second marching unit to be created in all of Shrinedom.  The only other marching unit prior to the Arab Patrol was Zurah's Patrol in Minneapolis.

The Arab Patrol has been very successful.  Its members include twelve former Past Potentates.  Recently, the Arab Patrol has added "jumpers" to its unit.  Jumpers are mini cars that will jump during parades and other events.  The Arab patrol Nobles common objective is to raise money for the Crippled Children's Hospitals and Burn Hospitals.  Being a Arab Patrol Shriner creates lasting friendships and many hours of good clean fun.
