Potentate’s Welcome

“There’s Nothing Finer…”

On behalf of myself, the Divan and the El Zagal Nobles and Ladies, we welcome you to our web site.

The Shriners Fraternity started in 1872 when a small group of Mason’s wanted to start an organization based on FUN and FELLOWSHIP.  In 1922, they decided to add PHILANTHROPY to those original principles when they opened the first Shriners Hospital in Shreveport, LA.  Today, we help support 22 children’s Hospitals where children from birth to age 18 receive expert specialty medical care at these hospitals, regardless of the families' ability to pay.

Today, our Shriner organization continues with the principles of fun, fellowship and philanthropy.  “Having fun helping kids” is a motto that rings true to every member that wears a fez.  We host events such as the the El Zagal Shrine Circus.  We parade, we fish, we golf and more.   From clowns on horses to Vikings on a ship, we have fun helping kids!

We are a family friendly organization that promotes unity.  We are plumbers and professionals, salesmen and bankers. We are fathers, uncles, and sons but we are also brothers.  When you become a Shriner, you become part of a brotherhood of men committed to family, engaged in ongoing personal growth, and providing care for children and families in need. While our backgrounds and interests may be diverse, what binds us together are shared values and a desire to have fun, do good and build bonds that last a lifetime.

I truly believe there’s nothing finer than being a Shriner .  If you are interested in our organization and want to find out more, please visit www.beashrinernow.com for more information and sign up.
